
Asheville Symphony To Perform Free Concert, Courtesy of Givens Communities
On Sunday, August 31, Givens Communities Presents Symphony in the Park, a free and family-friendly musical extravaganza at Pack Square Park in downtown Asheville, beginning at 7 p.m.
Soprano Elizabeth Baldwin headlines the evening with a breathtaking performance of opera and Broadway classics. Described as “mesmerizingly vulnerable” by the New York Times, and praised for her “vocal power, stamina, lyricism and musicianship” by Classical Scene Boston, Baldwin has starred across the United States, from Sarasota Symphony to Anchorage Opera. On the international stage, she recently debuted with Municipal de Santiago Opera Nacional de Chile as Bellini’s titular “Norma.”
Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, a Grammy winning, internationally touring, purple velvet tuxedo wearing funk phenomenon will join the Asheville Symphony for a feature with an upbeat, family-friendly collaboration that will delight audience members of all ages. Secret Agent 23 Skidoo combines the positive, primal power of hip hop with the surreal storytelling of science fiction.
